Database Programmer / Application Development / Customer Support

Argenta Systems is a value added reseller (VAR), implementer and consultancy specializing in SQL based Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs.

Full time job with part time telecommuting (after initial training period). Applicant must be located in the greater metropolitan area of Minneapolis / St. Paul. Occasional on-site visits at our customers are necessary.

Job Purpose:
Take software specifications and incorporate them into our CRM products, SalesLogix and SageCRM, using system tools and scripting to modify the standard design and develop new functionality as requested by the customer.

Duties:

• Under minimal supervision , receives project specifications and develops coding and screen designs to meet or exceed client expectations using the company system development methodology.
• Arranges project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; preparing a work flow chart and diagram using knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, programming language, and logic.
• Modifies standard product design and develops new functionality by encoding project requirements in Visual Basic, SQL, HTML, .NET and Jscript.
• Document complex programs, functions and interfaces.
• Interfaces with the project manager, customer and design team members for design scope, review and testing.
• Provides coding references and functional explanations in the code.
• Performs coding, unit testing, migration testing, and integration of moderate to complex programming in preparation for production implementations. Monitors testing phase and reports status to Project Manager. Monitors implementation of work into production to ensure functional integrity.
• Monitors and maintains SQL Server 2000 and 2005 databases using SQL Enterprise Manager, SQL Query Analyzer and SQL Profiler.
• Supports customers using the help desk program.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; attending vendor training; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
• Provide expertise in several application areas and maintain a high level of understanding of product functionality.
• Creates, modifies and troubleshoots Crystal Reports.

Skills/Qualifications:
Visual Basic, Visual Basic Scripting; MS ADO, SQL statements; Understands Record Sets, Relationships, Views and Joins in SQL Server; Screen Design, Controls and their Properties; Crystal Reports; Client/Server; Problem Solving; Attention to Detail; Software Debugging, Development, Fundamentals, Documentation, and Testing.

Application Support

The ideal candidate has experience in software support; has excellent customer service skills; can work independently, but works well in a team environment; is energetic and detail oriented; and has the ability to learn complex software applications. Programming experience with VB or SQL is preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Provide services and application support for existing clients
• Research and resolve customer support issues
• Assist in the implementation of new software for existing clients
• Perform software installations and upgrades.
• Become expert in our applications administrative tools.
• Perform basic data migrations.
• Create basic screen designs and modifications.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of experience providing Application Support, preferably on a MS SQL server platform.
• Experience with relevant technologies such as MS SQL, Visual Basic, Networking, Windows operating systems,
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Exemplary customer service skills
• Ability to learn complex software applications
• Effective time management skills
• Ability to multi-task
